Angely Andrade Vallarta for Costa Mesa City Council- District 4

Why I’m Running

Focused on What Matters Most

From safer streets to stronger neighborhoods — let’s build a Costa Mesa that works for everyone.

I’m running for City Council, District 4, because you deserve a city that feels safe, affordable, and well-run.

Everyday decisions at City Hall affect your life — from housing costs and traffic to parks, public safety, and small businesses. As a Planning Commissioner, nonprofit leader, and working mom, I understand those challenges because my family lives them too.

Costa Mesa is growing, and we need to guide that growth the right way — protecting our neighborhoods, improving infrastructure, and keeping our city welcoming and accessible for everyone.

I’ll bring practical experience, listen closely to residents, and focus on real results — not politics.

Because City Hall should work for you.

My Priorities

for Costa Mesa

  • Affordable Housing
Costa Mesa is becoming unaffordable for too many of us. I will work so that everyday families, seniors, and our young people don’t just stay in their homes, but thrive in our city.

  • Public Safety & Walkable Neighborhoods
Too many of our streets pose a danger to residents. I will work for smart solutions that make our streets safer while accommodating drivers’ needs.

  • Youth & Community Spaces
If we want our young people to stay out of trouble, our city has to do its part. I will work to build safe areas where young people can gather, learn, and thrive.

  • Parks, Trees & Green Space
Our families deserve parks and trees that shade and beautify our neighborhoods., especially District 4.

  • Fiscal Responsibility
As public officials, the city council should be accountable to the public. I will support measures that do right by our city and budget our funds responsibly.

  • Infrastructure
I will make it a priority that our residents have the modernized roads, functional sidewalks, and public facilities they need.

Meet Angely *

Costa Mesa is more than where I live — it’s where my family calls home.

It’s where my daughter goes to school, where we spend weekends at our parks, and where I want every family to feel safe, supported, and proud of their neighborhood. That’s why I’ve dedicated my career to one thing: helping communities thrive.

For nearly two decades, I’ve brought people together to solve problems and deliver real results. As a nonprofit executive, I worked with local employers and community partners to expand access to education, stable housing, and good-paying jobs — helping raise millions of dollars to support programs that strengthen families across our region.

But my work isn’t just professional — it’s personal.

As a Costa Mesa Planning Commissioner, I help guide the decisions that shape our city’s future — from housing and infrastructure to parks and neighborhood development. I’ve supported projects that create affordable housing for seniors, new homeownership opportunities for families, and expanded green spaces like Ketchum-Libolt and Shalimar Parks, because I believe strong neighborhoods start with smart planning and access to safe, welcoming public spaces.

Neighbors know me as someone who listens first, brings people together, and focuses on practical solutions — not politics.

My background in public policy, government finance, and community leadership — from the Hawaii State Senate to local nonprofit organizations — has prepared me to make thoughtful, responsible decisions with your tax dollars and our city’s future in mind.

I’m also a working mom, a PTA member, and a proud bilingual leader who values inclusion and making sure every voice is heard.

Because at the end of the day, City Hall should work for the people who live here.

I’m running for Costa Mesa City Council to bring experienced, collaborative leadership that keeps our neighborhoods safe, supports families and small businesses, and protects the quality of life that makes Costa Mesa special.

Together, we can build a city that works for everyone.
